ANHYDROUS METAL HALIDES AND AMALGAMS
For the European market, ABSCO Materials is pleased to be able to offer a range of ultra high purity anhydrous metal halides (predominantly bromides and iodides) produced by Microchem Inc. based in South Korea. These anhydrous halides are produced and supplied as precisely sized spheres of narrow mass variation with controlled individual piece weights ranging from 0.1 - 5.0 milligrams.
The main applications include:
METAL HALIDE LAMPS
These are similar to mercury vapour lamps in operation but contain metallic additives which partially vaporise and produce different colours. Often it is required to combine several different metal halides in the same lamp and ABSCO can offer multi-halide mixtures containing up to 6 different metal halides within a single spherical bead. Examples of such mixtures are in the following tables:
HIGH PRESSURE SODIUM LAMPS
ABSCO is able to offer a variety of sodium-mercury amalgams spheres with sodium contents ranging from 3 - 25 weight % and with individual pieces sizes of 0.1 - 5.0 milligrams. We can also supply other alkali earth amalgams including Cs-Hg, K-Hg, Rb-Hg.
CHEMICALS AND CRYSTALS
ABSCO Materials can offer individual anhydrous halides for controlled dopant additions into a variety of compounds, particularly for the production of scintillation crystals. These materials can be provided as mesh sized powders or as discrete spheres of clearly defined size and weight for accurate additions. Compounds currently used include:
Europium iodide
Lutetium iodide
